Introduction

Animal Biotechnology Cooperative Centre (ABCC) is one of the seven Biotechnology Cooperative Centres established by the National Biotechnology Directorate, Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment, Malaysia.  The centre was officially launched in August, 1997. 

Aims and Objectives of the Centre

The centre's primary aim is to bring together researchers in animal biotechnology into a powerful team that will develop high quality research and establish strong linkages with relevant local and overseas research institutions.

Objectives

  • to create a centre of excellence in the field of animal biotechnology.
  • to strengthen R&D activities by conducting high quality, national coordinated research, on important diseases that will allow rapid technology transfer 
  • to increase livestock productivity through the development of new reproductive and nutritive strategies. 
  • to gather a strong nucleus of trained manpower in animal biotechnology via training programmes.
