NBBnet Activities


ACTIVITIES OF NBBnet

NBBnet will be established as a distributed database and network composing of NBBnet Coordinating Center (NCC) located at MOSTE, the Specialised Center (SC) located at the various BCCs and whose activities will be based on each specialty (e.g. medical, food, etc.) NBBnet will be supported by in the User Centers (UC) whose activities will be based on the requirement of the institutions on which they are located. The main activities of NBBnet will be the storage of databases generated by the BCCs and information generated by NBD or collected from other sources. The activities of NBBnet will be implemented in phases:


 

Phase I
- Immediate
  • Creation of homepage for NCC and BCC.
  • Establish linkages among the NCC, BCC and established user centers (UC). Such databases need to be updated continuously.
  • To employ 2 research assistants or research fellows or post-doctoral fellows who will assist the NCC and BCC establish infrastructure and storage of datas.
Phase II
- Short Term to Intermediate (1999 - 2000)
  • To apply launching grant for purchase of softwares, hardwares and employing personals.
  • Employ research assistant for BCCs.
  • Storage of databases by the NCC and BCC.
  • Mirroring with establish network such a NBBnet.
  • Conduct training programmes.
Phase III
- Medium Term (2001 - 2002)
  • Establish linkages with high speed network infrastructure such as APBionet, STAR-TAP and APAN.
  • Hosting of E-journals.
  • Develop R&D Projects.
Phase IV
- Long Term
(2003 - 2005)
  • Develop mega projects such genomic projects of important plants or microbes development of biochips etc.
